Samsung Exynos 2200 4nm processor launched with Xclipse GPU by AMD
On January 18, 2022, Samsung has launched its brand new processor – Exynos 2200. There are more interesting facts that Samsung has applied with this new chipset including the new AMD RDNA 2 architecture that is based on Samsung Xclips GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) to bring a boasting graphics visualization for smartphone owners.
For your information, the Samsung Exynos 2200 is launched and built with a 4 nm (nanometer) EUV (extreme ultraviolet lithography) process.
Xclipse GPU:
The Exynos 2200 uses a new GPU – Xclipse. As Samsung described, the word ‘X’ in Xclipse represents Exynos and the ‘eclipse’ is just an eclipse. Therefore, the Xclipse GPU will bring an end to the old era of mobile gaming and mark the start of an exciting new chapter.
Xclipse GPU is supported by the AMD RDNA 2 architecture that enables to play of high-quality graphics and features such as hardware acceleration ray tracing (RT) and variable rate shading (VRS). These features were only accessible for the PC, laptops, and console devices.
There’s more, the Xclipse GPU has various technologies including multi-IP governor (AMIGO) to enhance the overall performance and efficiency of the GPU and its usage.
Performance:
Want something latest, don’t worry, Samsung Exynos 2200 will bring you the first in use ARMv9 CPU cores that provide better performance in speed compared to ARMv8 cores as well as improved security features.
This Samsung processor has an Octa-core CPU design with a tri-cluster structure made of a single ARM Cortex-X2 flagship core and three performance tagged with big cores – Cortex – A710 and four power management Cortex-A510 tiny cores.
We’re not done yet, the Exynos 2200 has a fast 3GPP Release 16 5G modem that will enable fast 5G access for both sub-6GHz and mmWave (millimeter wave) network bands. The new processor can absorb up to 10Gbps of network speed on our device thanks to the new E-UTRAN New Radio – Dual connectivity (EN-DC), which consists of both 4G LTE and 5G NR signals.
AI:
The AI section has also been improved with a new Neural Processing Unit (NPU). Samsung says Exynos 2200 has doubled the size of the AI performance as compared to before. The NPU now offers much higher precision with FP16 (16-bit floating point) in addition to power-efficient INT8 (8bit integer) and INT 16.
Security:
Samsung Exynos 2200 will bring you better system security with its Integrated Security Element (iSE) to store private cryptographic keys for RoT (Root of Trust).
Camera:
Let’s jump to the camera section, Exynos 2200 has a new image signal processor that supports up to 200MP of camera resolution, which is absolutely for the new flagship ISOCELL sensors. The camera ISP can now shoot 108MP resolution photos at 30FPS. The recording also supports 4K and 8K videos.
The Exynos 2200 has 8K enhanced featuring a multi-format coded (MFC) that makes the 4K at 240fps or 8K at 60fps and encodes up to 4K at 120fps or 8K at 30fps.
Immersive Viewing:
If you want to know about the display refresh rate then you should know that Samsung Exynos 2200 supports upto 144Hz of refresh rate supported by HRD10+ content quality for smoothest and fastest graphic transitions in all scenarios.
