Samsung suspends smartphone and chip shipments to Russia
On March 5th, Samsung has announced that the company has halted shipping all of its products to Russia. As per the recent statement from the Samsung official, due to the current geopolitical developments, shipments to Russia have been suspended. And, the company is actively monitoring this tough situation to determine its next steps.
As reported by Bloomberg, the company has suspension covers products – from chips to smartphones and consumer electronics, suggesting the move withdraws Russia from a huge range of products and this could be a major concern for one of the world’s largest electronics sellers.
However, Samsung is also making contributions to humanity’s efforts. “Our ideas are with all those affected and our priority is to ensure the safety of our employees and their families,” the company said.
“We plan to actively support humanitarian efforts around the region, including helping refugees. To this end, we are donating $6 million, including $1 million in consumer electronics products, as well as voluntary donations from our employees.”
On the other hand, Samsung is the latest tech seller to suspend sales of its products in Russia after the Ukraine attack. Earlier, Samsung from South Korea can still ship technology to Russia despite some export restrictions, but the company has made its own decision to suspend shipments.
