Google TV mobile application is hereby to entertain us with the latest movies and TV shows, but with the presence of the ‘Movies & TV’ tab in Google Play Store it might not go that popular among the users. In the favour of Google TV, Google put forward a step to remove the Movies and TV tab from Play Store.

Previously, Google remove Play Music from Google Play Store after that it remains packed with Applications, Books, and Television. And now Google Play is working to drop Movies & TV on Android with the Google TV app, which brings new places to buy and rent content.

The new phase of Google Play Movies & TV will be less radical, but it further divides Google Play into a unified media store. Just like Youtube Music when it completely replaced the Play equivalent from Youtube.

Today company announced through an email to customers that Movies and TV will no longer be supported on the Play Store on Android phones and tablets as of May. Meanwhile, the tab will be disabled from the bottom bar, with the search no longer showing movies and shows.

For customer queries and support, the company redirects to the standalone Google TV app, which comes pre-installed on all Android devices.

It does not affect family sharing, Play Points, or the ability to use Play Credits as the backend infrastructure does not change. Other factors that remain unchanged are refund requests and wish lists. At the same time, no changes to Google Play were announced on the web today.
