One UI 4.1-based Camera Features
Redesigned Preview elements after One UI 4.1
The lens icons have been updated to display a magnification number to convey clear information. And, the Zoom bar and shortcuts have also been redesigned to accurately indicate the level of magnification. In Pro mode, the lens icon is sorted to display the lens name.
Advanced Quick Take Features
Users can take longer to capture faster video or take a hands-free Quick Take recording by tapping the shutter button on the lock icon. The lock icon is displayed at a specific zoom level.

Improved Portrait Mode
Samsung One UI 4.1 Portrait Mode’s Add Portrait Effect feature creates a smooth, blurry background on a photo when your subject is in sharp focus. Blurring the background helps to create a more pleasant image as well as keep your subject unique.
In addition, the icon style and lighting UX have been improved for easy use and understanding. The updated effects icon style highlights the selected icon and the lighting control bar is shown only when the lighting icon is pressed.
Additionally, thin objects such as straws, transparent cups, or repetitive patterns can be better identified by the AI DEPTH MAP. All fields of view are supported when taking Portrait images at night. Take bright and clear Portrait photos even when it is dark outside. From the gallery, you can make the subject stand out by adding a background blur effect to photos taken in Photo mode.
Adding to this it also allows users to edit their photos using the different background effects available in portrait mode, and then try changing the lighting location to enhance your image.
With the Galaxy S22 series, users can also take stunning pictures of their cat or dog using the effects available in the rear or front portrait mode.
Portrait Video
Samsung Portrait Video Mode is basically the same as Live Focus, but with One UI 4.1, you have additional effects and filters to take your photos to the next level. Like their picture options, these modes affect whatever you’re recording using the rear or front cameras.
With the improved usability of portrait video mode with 3x zoom and video stabilization feature.
- 3x ZOOM: From the Camera app, tap on the 3x icon, located above the shutter button.
- Video stabilization: From the Camera app, tap the Settings button, located on the top left corner of the screen, then enable Video stabilization.
Enhanced Director’s View
From the Director’s View, you can record video from different angles with both the subject matter and the person filming at the same time. Added anti-shake feature for better blur-reduction compared to the previous model.
Save option
The newly added save option in Directors View gives users the option to save the front and rear camera recordings as two separate video files or combine them into a single file. If the Save option is set to save two separate videos, the user can view or edit the videos separately.
PIP (Picture in Picture) Control
The PIP (Picture in Picture) feature is very useful for viewing both screens simultaneously. In Directors View, you can view live feed simultaneously from the front and rear cameras. The PIP is a short video attached to the main video.
Users can adjust the PIP screen size or turn it on /off in dual PIP visual recording mode.

Samsung brings huge energy-saving opportunity to New York
New York became the first US state to bring retail consumer rebates for appliances under the Inflation Reduction Act. Applauding the move, Samsung launched a huge energy-saving opportunity for the residents of New York.
Samsung started offering up-front discounts to consumers statewide through New York’s IRA HEAR program. Consumers can now access IRA’s Home Electrification and Appliance Rebate (HEAR) program.

- Save up to $840 on Samsung’s innovative ENERGY STAR products, including laundry appliances like heat pump dryers and all-in-one combo washers + heat pump dryers.

OpenAI eyes AI integration on Samsung phones like Apple Intelligence
Apple collaborated with OpenAI to power Apple Intelligence features. The ChatGPT maker continues to create obstacles for Google. In a recent move, OpenAI discussed a potential AI partnership with Samsung.
TheInformation (via Reuters) reported that OpenAI has recently discussed powering AI features on Samsung-made devices. It seems the ChatGPT-maker wishes an AI partnership with Samsung to expand its reach in multiple folds.
The company is considering developing a web browser to rival Google’s Chrome. OpenAI recently introduced its search engine called SearchGPT. It is available to limited users alongside internal testers and strategic partners.
Samsung x OpenAI
Samsung and Google’s close partnership doesn’t need any elaboration. The friendship isn’t limited to services, as both firms work across an ecosystem. However, it doesn’t stop Samsung from partnering with OpenAI in favor of better service.
