Watch 4 Software Update Support

While launching the Galaxy S22 series smartphones, Samsung made a big announcement related to its software department. While the 2021 & 2022 flagship Galaxies are now eligible for four OS and five years of security patches, the Galaxy smartwatches will also have four years of upgrades to One UI Watch and Wear OS.

One UI Watch is a custom wearable platform made by Samsung in collaboration with Google. To do so, Samsung discontinued its own developed Tizen OS, in order to extend the features and capabilities of its wearable lineup. Below, you can see the eligible Galaxy watch for four years of upgrades.

Galaxy Watch 4 Wear OS

Samsung introduced the Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic back in August 2022 alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3. Unlike the older models, this next-gen Samsung smartwatch lineup comes pre-equipped with a One UI Watch 4 software system on top of Google’s Wear OS 3.

The Galaxy Watch 4 smartwatches, with Wear OS 3, takes the user experience to a whole new level. Furthermore, the new watches enable consumers to run even more third-party apps, thanks to the integrated Google Play Store, meanwhile, Google Assistant support is still awaited.

Recent major firmware update

At the Galaxy S22 launch event, Samsung confirmed to bring a major firmware update with new advanced features to the new smartwatches. Shortly after the announcement, the company had started rolling out the feature-packed software to the Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic.
