New Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 update brings ECG and BP health features in Canada

Launched last year, Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 is one of the best feature-rich and functional smartwatches present on the market. A couple of months ago, it received a major software update that brought Galaxy S22 compatible wallpapers, many new features as well as improvements.

Meanwhile, according to the new information, the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic have now started receiving a new update in Canada. Although the update is still based on Wear OS 3.1 and Android 11, there seem some changes and improvements.

As per the mentioned changelog, the latest Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 update enhances Samsung Health Function to further improve the users’ experience and watch’s performance. At the same time, it adds the new Samsung Health Monitor App (Blood Pressure and ECG).

Once you update your watch, you can enable the Blood pressure and Electrocardiogram options inside the Samsung Health app and calibrate your smartwatch for accurate readings.

You can identify the update via the build version R870XXU1FVC8 and R890XXU1FVC8 for your Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic respectively. It’s rolling out in many countries including Canada while it will further expand to more users shortly.

How to Download Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 update:

  • On the connected phone, navigate to and open the Galaxy Wearable app.
  • Tap Watch settings, and then tap Watch software update.

*If your watch displays a Home tab, swipe to and tap Watch software update or Band software update. Tap Download and install.

Before you download:

  • You will not be able to use your watch while installing this update, even for emergency calls.
  • Some settings on your watch may change. This act does not have to affect your personal data, but the data will always be closed as shown, just in case
