Scramoji claimed that Volkswagen applied three of its wireless charging patents to Golf R and Golf GTI without permission. The three patents which Scramozy claimed were infringed on are Wireless Power Transmission Device, Wireless Power Transmission System, and Induction Power Transmission System.
Previously Scramozy bought 123 US patents, including those used in this lawsuit, from a domestic company in February 2021. In September Scramozy purchased an additional US patent from Harris Global Communications. So as if now it has 124 US patents.
Scramozy has been actively engaged in patent disputes against global IT giants such as Google, Apple, and Samsung. This is the first time it has filed a lawsuit against a car maker.
Looking at the dispute is largely related to the regular trend and expansion motive of automotive electronics. The application of 5G communication to autonomous vehicles and electric vehicles is increasingly being used nowadays.
Samsung is also featuring wireless charging functions on the mobile products whether it’s a low-end smartphones or a recently launched Samsung Galaxy A series.
