Samsung US BYOD

Over the past two years, Samsung smartphones have evolved increasingly important for workforce productivity and flexibility. Many businesses are pursuing a BYOD approach instead of providing smartphones to their employees.

According to a new study from Samsung and Oxford Economics, BYOD can reduce their business acumen, reduce data security and adversely affect revenue growth and employee turnover.

As part of the Maximizing Mobile Value Study, Samsung and Oxford Economics surveyed 500 US executives and 1,000 U.S. employees in small and medium-sized businesses to better understand how mobile technologies support the workforce.

However, this estimating the actual investment in supporting smartphones, the study found that BYOD is saving businesses far less than they expected.

Considering the upfront price of equipment, management overheads, and software, BYOD saves businesses an average of $340 per employee per year, but at the same time hinders their ability to influence mobile to increase productivity and change workflows.

To help businesses better understand their total investment in employee mobility, Samsung has developed a mobile price calculator based on industry benchmarks from a study. Businesses can input their current costs and compare them to other companies of similar size and industry.

Samsung Galaxy users can now hide the hotspot icon on their smartphones along with other indicator icons, thanks to the QuickStar Good Lock module.

Previously, users could customize the visibility of several indicator icons including VPN, Power Saver, Location, Date Saver, battery, Bluetooth, and more. Now, the Mobile Hotspot icon has been added to this list.

Last month, Samsung released the QuickStar 7.3.06.50 update, which introduced the ability to hide the mobile hotspot icon. This feature is particularly useful for users who prefer a cleaner quick panel and want to hide indicator icons.

To hide the Mobile Hotspot indicator icon on the quick panel of your Samsung devices, users just need to follow a few simple steps.

New Galaxy AI to offer real-time translation in WhatsApp

Samsung One UI 6.1 Live Translate

Article at a glance: Samsung Galaxy AI might get real-time translation support for WhatsApp calls. Live Translate could be supported by non-Samsung apps with the next iteration of Galaxy AI. Google Meet and WeChat might also be supported by the Galaxy AI translation feature.

Upgraded Galaxy AI will launch at the Unpacked next week. The new Galaxy AI is said to bring real-time translation to WhatsApp. It’s expected that the company may announce its collaboration with third-party platforms to optimize Galaxy AI with their apps.

WhatsApp already supports the translation of chats in Samsung’s AI suite. Beyond that, Samsung might bring real-time translation support for calls to WhatsApp. It would be a quite big development as there are approximately 2.7 billion active users worldwide.

The Galaxy S24 series debuted the Live Translate feature with Galaxy AI. It helps users translate phone calls in real time through on-device AI capabilities. This feature is expected to be supported by non-Samsung apps with the next iteration of Galaxy AI.

Breaking the language barriers, Samsung’s Galaxy AI will be playing a crucial role in users’s everyday activities. Rather than phone calls through network carriers, millions of people use third-party apps like WhatsApp for voice conversation.

Samsung continues to expand its partnerships in various segments. It has close ties with Microsoft, Meta and Google that unlock extraordinary features on Galaxy devices. Beyond WhatsApp, Google Meet and WeChat might also be supported by the Galaxy AI translation feature.

The Korean tech giant will launch the new Galaxy AI features at Unpacked on July 10. It’s going to be a big hardware launch event, bringing next-generation foldable phones, Wear OS smartwatches, upgraded earbuds, the first Ring-style wearable, and the first Watch Ultra.
