If Samsung approves the use of LG Energy Solutions batteries for its new device Galaxy Fold 4. Then this would be the first time that it will be using this battery for its foldable.

Industry sources said that both are in talks and LG is more likely to become a supplier of batteries for foldable smartphones next year and said batteries have been well received by MB Business.

Until last year Samsung has used batteries from Samsung SDI when it had earlier launched the batteries for the foldable smartphones in 2021.

Why Samsung is sourcing batteries from LG Energy Solutions?

Samsung Electronics is doing this to get the benefits in terms of cost-saving. Samsung wants to reduce the cost of batteries which is one of the main components of foldable smartphones. Therefore Samsung is in talks with more original development manufacturers to handle its battery and foldable production.

Chinese developers are using the batteries from ATL and BYD for their smartphone production. This might have increased the competitiveness which is why to maintain the cost Samsung might have taken this step.
