Useful Samsung One UI 4.1 features
Keep your eyes comfortable:
After a busy day, we only get time to use the smartphone at night but the bright white screen of our phone hurts our eyes causing pain or irritation. Meanwhile, I found the Samsung Eye Comfort Shield to be very useful and effective.
When enabled, it will limit the blue light emission of your smartphone screen and enable warmer colors, thereby preventing potential eye strain. To enable it:
- Swipe down on your screen to access your Quick Settings.
- Swipe across the screen to the next page.
- Locate Eye Comfort Shield.
- Tap on Eye Comfort Shield to enable or disable the setting.
Get search suggestions in Settings:
By default, Samsung offers you different search suggestions in the Settings. You can discover useful features and turn them on or off right from the search screen.
This suggested feature comes in handy if you want to open up recently opened settings directly from the search bar.
Customize your call screen:
Tired of the same, boring caller screen? You can pick your favorite picture and video to show when you make or receive calls. To do this:
- Open the Phone app on your smartphone.
- Tap three dots (More).
- Go to Settings.
- Click on Call Background.
- Select Layout.
- Choose your preferred Call background layout then press the back button to Apply changes.
- Tap on Background.
- Tap on the Plus icon (+) to add a new Call background.
- Select the Photo or Video you would like to use as your Call background.
- If you would like to use a Video as your Call background, ensure that the clip is a maximum of 15 seconds.
- Once you are happy with the background select Set as call background.
- When the Call Background has been applied, you will be able to view your chosen Photo or Video when receiving a call.
Hear what’s on the screen:
Samsung TalkBack is a feature that aids blind and low-vision users. It provides spoken feedback so that you can use your phone or tablet without looking at the screen. The name of the feature will vary between software versions, but the functionality is the same. To enable or disable it:
- Go to your phone’s Settings.
- Scroll down and select Accessibility.
- Tap into TalkBack.
- Toggle TalkBack On or Off.
Widgets on Lock Screen:
Widgets are useful information that is displayed on the lock screen. Samsung One UI 4.1 Lock Screen Widgets not only include the date, time, and day on your device. But it also displays Weather, Digital Wellbeing, Bixby Routines, next alarm, today’s schedule, Voice Recorder, as well as a music player so you don’t have to unlock your phone to get access to some important information.
All these widgets do not come enabled by default, you have to do it through the settings. Here’s how:
- Launch the Settings of your phone.
- Scroll down and enter the Lock Screen section.
- Tap on Widgets.
- Turn the toggle on for the widget you want to see on the lock screen.
You can place multiple widgets on the lock screen, although you can only see one at a time. Tap the clock widget to see others.
Dynamic Lock Screen:
The dynamic Lock screen has its own impact on customizations, so users can maximize it according to their preference. It is a service that automatically updates and displays various images on the lock screen of your Galaxy device.
You can keep things fresh with different images every time you turn on the screen instead of the same wallpaper over and over again. Here’s how:
- Head over to the Settings of your phone.
- Go to Lock Screen.
- Click on Wallpaper services.
- Tap Dynamic Lock Screen.
- Finally, tap Apply.
- If you are enabling the Dynamic Lock screen for the first time, you’ll automatically be taken to the settings where you can select an image pack.
- You can return here by tapping the Settings icon.
- Tap on an image pack to download it and the Dynamic Lock screen will be automatically applied as your wallpaper.
- Open the first app you want to use.
- Slide from the Edge Panel.
- Hold down another app you want to use in split-screen view.
- Drag it to the bottom or top of the screen.
- You can press the Home or Back button to exit the split-screen view.
Reach the whole screen with one hand:
With the increase in display size, controlling your phone with one hand can be difficult for many. If there’s an area of the screen that you can’t reach or to navigate your phone easier, you can use One Hand Mode. To enable this:
- Open the Settings of your phone.
- Scroll down to enter Advanced features.
- Click One-handed mode.
- Enable the feature.
- You can select between one of two methods to open one-hand mode.
