Samsung One UI 4.1 Tip: How to control Smart Home devices from Quick Settings

From phones to air conditioners, refrigerators, washing machines, fans, kitchen appliances, etc, everything is smart nowadays. But controlling these gadgets with different remote controls can be difficult sometimes. Meanwhile, Samsung smartphones let you control every smart home device with ease.

Isn’t it great that you can control all of your smart home devices with your phone? Yes, it is. To make it easier, the Korean tech giant provides you the ability to control these devices from the quick settings panel itself, you don’t need to follow the full process of opening different settings.

Do note that only apps that support the Device Control feature will be accessible from Quick Settings. For Samsung devices, the main two are Google Home and SmartThings. You must set up one of these in order to use the controls.

Here’s how to control Smart Home devices from your Samsung One UI 4.1 Quick Settings.

Control Smart Home devices from Quick Settings

  • Swipe down from the top of the screen to open the Quick settings panel.
  • Tap Device control just below the brightness adjuster.
  • If you are already using SmartThings or Google Home, you may already see the device controls. If not, tap the three-dot menu icon and select Manage Apps.
  • Toggle on the apps that have the devices you want to control.
  • Now select one of the apps to customize which devices will appear in the device controls.
  • Select all the devices you want to see and unselect the devices you don’t want to appear.
  • Tap the back arrow in the top-left when you’re done.
  • Go back to the Devices screen and you’ll see all the devices you selected.
    • You can drag and drop these tiles to rearrange the order.
  • Just tap the tile to be brought to the device page in the associated app, or use the power icon to immediately turn things on and off.
  • To switch between smart home apps:
    • Tap the down arrow next to the app name above the tiles, then select the other app.
