After receiving Android 12-based One UI 4.1, everyone has now started looking forward to the One UI 5.0. Samsung’s new custom OS will be based on Android 13 and will go live in the form of bets in the third week of this month, followed by the public launch in October.

According to some reports, Samsung One UI 5.0 has not so many noticeable changes in under interface, icons, etc, however, the company has slightly improved the animation. Aside from these, the new OS will bring a lot of new features and customization options.

Samsung One UI 5.0 Key features

Better support for Material You

Samsung very well adopted Android 12’s Material You and generated a Color palette for One UI 4 users that syncs with your phone’s wallpaper. When enabled, it applies themes to menus, buttons, and backgrounds as well as Google and Samsung app icons.

But this is not enough, the third-party apps that don’t adopt Material You spoil the look of the app drawer. Samsung should make these themes functional for third-party applications as well.

Big screen optimizations

Android 12 One UI 4.1 is absolutely great but there are still many apps that don’t optimize their layout properly on foldable devices and tablets. Google, on the other hand, has Android 12L which has some optimizations for large-screen devices and these will come to Galaxy phones next month.

But the Android 13-based One UI 5.0 is coming and I am looking forward to seeing what new optimizations the company will bring for larger-screen devices.

Improved notification control

Samsung One UI 4.1 has dozens of settings to manage Notifications, still, there’s a need to improve. Samsung One UI 5.0 is expected to bring the Notification permission feature to Galaxy users.

In order to send you notifications, apps will need you to give them your permission and you can say ‘no’ if you don’t want a particular app to send a notification.

Per-app language settings

People speak different languages in different countries and states and some apps having only English or a few language support could be a limitation for them. It would be nice if these apps could automatically translate the UI elements and text to a language that is set by default on the device.

New Media PlayBack UI

The current media playback interface on Samsung devices is excellent. But the company will further improve it in terms of looks as well as make it easier to see the track that’s been played.

Android 12 One UI 4 Dynamic theming applies your chosen color palette to all Samsung apps, Google apps, Quick settings, and others. Meanwhile, with Android 13 One UI 5.0, these changes will also be applied to media controls along with the awesome squiggly playback line.
