Samsung announces Second Quarter 2022 results, DS division reported historical high

Samsung has officially released the financial results for its second quarter of 2022. With 12% YOY increases, the company has consolidated revenue of KRW 77.2 trillion and an operating profit of KRW 14.1 trillion.

For the second consecutive quarter, revenue from the DS (Device Solutions) segment reached an all-time high, while the DX (Device Experience) segment saw a significant year-on-year increase in revenue.

In the second Quarter of 2022, the company’s capital expenditure in the second quarter was KRW 12.3 trillion, which included KRW 10.9 trillion in DS and KRW 0.8 trillion in SDC (Samsung Display Corporation).

Like the first quarter, memory spending in P3 was focused on infrastructure and process migration at Fab in Hwaseong, Pyeongtaek, and Xi’an. Investments in the foundry business are focused on increasing production capacity for advanced processes below 5 nanometers.

The DS division and SDC reported KRW 28.5 trillion and KRW 7.71 trillion in consolidated revenue respectively while KRW 9.98 trillion and KRW 1.06 trillion in operating profit, as per the Samsung second quarter financial results for the year 2022.

Looking at the second half of this year, for the smartphone market, the company expects earnings to increase as compared to 1H as new products are about to be released by major consumers.
