Samsung Android 13/One UI 5.0 adds new ‘Active apps’ section in Quick Settings
Recently, we discussed new icons that debuted with Samsung’s Android 13-based One UI 5.0 Beta update, while there’s a new section has been added called “Active apps” in Quick settings. We can access the Notification panel by swiping down one time from the homescreen, while the second down swipe expands all Quick settings.
In the header section, the user interface brings a Search tool, power button options, a Settings toggle, and three dots menu letting you edit the Quick settings and Notification panel as per your requirements. Inside the extended menu, the One UI 5.0 brings a new section entitled Active apps.

Samsung described the newly added Active apps section so users can be aware of its functionality. The Active apps section shows users’ apps that are running in the background. And as you know, if there’s any app running in the background, it may affect battery life.

In order to give a more clear understanding of the addition of a new section, we mentioned screenshots of One UI 4.1 and One UI 5.0’s hamburger menu, followed by the functionality of the Active apps section. While I was using the phone, the Active apps menu showed the Link to Windows app running in the background.

Using the newly added One UI 5.0 feature, users can check which app is running in the background and close it if not in use. It will surely increase the battery life of the device alongside providing you with enhanced performance by keeping the RAM clear.
As of now, the Galaxy S22 series smartphone users can access the new One UI 5.0 features through the Beta testing program in select countries. It’s expected that the South Korean tech giant will start the Official Android 13 update rollout to Galaxy devices by mid-October.
