Samsung announces big update for TV Plus with more new free shows, channels
On August 30, Samsung announced that it is bringing more new content to the TV Plus platform through a new update, which will be rollout out globally across Samsung Smart TVs, mobile apps, and the web. The update features a lot of additional new shows, such as Top Gear, Law & Order Special Victims Unit, NCIS, and Chicago Fire.
The South Korean tech giant also revealed that the Samsung TV Plus service reached 24 countries and 465 million devices globally across TV and mobile. Following its initial debut in 2015, Samsung TV Plus has steadily expanded its reach and content offering to deliver over 220 channels in the U.S. only.

With the update, Samsung TV Plus is getting two exclusive Samsung-owned channels: Ride or Drive, which offers automotive content to car fans, and Samsung Showcase, which is dedicated to “concerts, events, and special programming.” And the collaboration with A&E will bring one more new channel called Home.Made.Nation.

The company mentioned in its newsroom post that it plans to extend local news and weather coverage to more areas of the US. By 2023, Samsung aims to double its video-on-demand library by utilizing new and expanded partnerships with Lionsgate, Vice Media, and more.
