Sony officially announced its new “compact” smartphone – Xperia 5 IV at its recent product launch conference. Compared to the Xperia 1 IV, the new Xperia 5 IV has a slightly smaller size, lesser price, and features, however, there’s no compromise with all three camera sensors.

The all new Sony Xperia 5 IV introduces the company’s excellent Real-time Eye AF in all three (standard wide, ultrawide, and telephoto) cameras for better portraits and super-fast burst shooting speeds even with HDR enabled.

The device brings a 24mm-equivalent standard wide, 16mm-equivalent ultrawide, and 60mm-equivalent telephoto on the rear panel, each of 12MP. Talking about the pricing and availability, Sony’s new compact smartphone comes with a price tag of $999 and is scheduled to ship on October 27th.

Xperia 5 IV’s all three rear camera sensors are capable of 120 fps readout speeds to enable video recording at 4K / 120p. Not that all, but the image sensors can also shoot still photos at 20 fps with autofocus, auto exposure, and HDR enabled. Plus, the selfie camera also has a 12MP resolution.

El Deane Naude, spokesperson of Sony said

“It’s an intentional move to make those high readout speeds possible on all of its cameras and to maximize low light sensitivity with bigger pixels.”

Similar to the Galaxy S22 Ultra, the Sony Xperia is packed with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, a 5,000mAh battery, and an IP68 rating. On the other hand, the S22 Ultra is far ahead of the new Xperia phone with its monstrous 108MP primary sensor and two telephoto cameras, which makes it the most powerful camera smartphone in the market.
