Farewell: Samsung ends Galaxy Note 9 software update support
Samsung now ended software update support for the Galaxy Note 9, which was a flagship smartphone launched way back in August 2018, with a starting price tag of $999. With the Note 9, the company introduced meaningful upgrades such as 512GB of internal storage, S Pen with Bluetooth feature and external microSD card support.
At the Galaxy Note 20 series launch event, Samsung announced that it will bring an additional year of OS and regular software update support to flagship Galaxy devices launched running Android 9-based One UI 1. Accordingly, the Galaxy Note 9 didn’t become eligible for additional software support.

As per the South Korean tech giant’s old Android and security update policy, which applies to the Galaxy Note 9, it has finished its lifecycle of firmware updates. The device has already been upgraded two times; Android 9 (One UI 1) & Android 10 (One UI 2).

Talking about security updates, Samsung released the July 2022 security patch to the Galaxy Note 9 smartphone last month, which can be noted as its last OTA. Usually, the company delivers one or two additional patches after ending support, but, there’s no guarantee for it.
