One UI 5.0 Motions & gestures

Continuing the features deployed with the One UI 4.1 update, Samsung further improved the motions and gestures with the One UI 5.0, based on Android 13. In the One UI 5.0, there are 7 different motions and gestures options, offering users unique ways to interact with their phones.

Lift to wake:

Samsung One UI 5.0’s Lift to wake feature allows your Galaxy device to turn the screen when you pick up your phone. When enabled, your handset’s screen will glow up when you pick it up from the table or other surface, without pressing the side key.

Double tap to turn on screen:

In case you have not enabled the Lift to wake feature on your Galaxy, you can enable the Double tap gesture that will turn your phone’s screen when you double tap it.

Double tap to turn off screen:

Similar to the feature of turning on the display, you can also enable the gesture that will turn off the screen of your Galaxy when you double tap an empty space on the Home or lock screen.

Keep screen on while viewing:

One UI 5.0 allows you to force your Galaxy device to keep the screen on while you are viewing the screen. This feature works with the front camera of your phone to detect your face.

Alert when phone picked up:

Do you like a feature that will notify you with a short vibration once your outgoing call will be picked? Unquestionably yes, and you can enable it through Samsung One UI 5.0’s motions and gestures section.

Mute with gestures:

By enabling the Mute with gestures feature of your One UI 5.0 phone, you can mute incoming calls or alarms by just turning the face down of your Galaxy or covering the screen with your hand.

Palm swipe to capture:

This is going to be your best yet unique hack that will take your experiences of grabbing screenshots to a whole new level. While other phones offer ‘three fingers down gesture’ to take a screenshot, you can swipe your palm across the screen to capture a screenshot.
