Samsung is releasing a new software update for Galaxy S21 series phones that brings the October 2022 Android security patch for Verizon US customers. Besides installing the most up-to-date monthly patch for security purposes, the latest update also resolves a known text messaging issue.
On the other flip, the Korean company is currently testing the Android 13-based One UI 5.0 beta update on Galaxy S21 phones in select markets. This introduces a slew of new features along with multiple changes over the previous One UI version.
Meanwhile, the stable One UI 5.0 will get official on October 12, probably the update rollout will also begin on the same day. Obviously, the Galaxy S22 devices will grab it first, whereas, the Galaxy S21 customers are next in line to install it.

According to the official changelog, Samsung fixes an intermittent issue where the device didn’t receive text messages. Previously, various Verizon-locked Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S21 customers reported this problem, which is occurring after installing the September 2022 patch update.
This problem was randomly preventing Galaxy S21 devices to receive text messages. However, after restarting the phone, all the pending messages arrive in bulk. Fortunately, the issue is resolved and now users won’t have to restart their phones again and again to receive text messages.
