Samsung improving Galaxy S20 with latest security patch released in October 2022

Samsung Galaxy S20 series is the latest recipient of the October 2022 Android security patch that improves the phones’ performance. The update rollout began recently in Europe, with users in other markets will get it very soon.

The October 2022 security update for these devices comes with optimizations for system security to help in protecting your files from unwanted bugs. It further brings enhancements for the stability to deliver users seamless functionality over their phones.

In terms of vulnerability fixes, Samsung Galaxy S20 October 2022 patch resolves 42 security vulnerabilities, which are related to Google’s Android OS and 18 SVE items from One UI software.

It’s noteworthy that these exposures are connected to improper access control to call information, MAC address leaks, device serial numbers, configuration data, and others.

Furthermore, the latest software update for LTE variants of Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S20+ comes with One UI build version G980FXXSFFVIB and G985FXXSFFVIB respectively. On the other hand, G981BXXSFFVIB, G986BXXSFFVIB, and G988BXXSFFVIB is the firmware version for 5G models of Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, and Galaxy S20 Ultra sequentially.

It’s worth mentioning that the fresh software update is live in European countries including Germany, France, Poland, Switzerland, Spain, the UK, the Netherlands, the Baltic region, the Czech Republic, Romania, Austria, Bulgaria, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Slovakia, Slovenia, Southeast Europe, Luxembourg, and Nordic countries.

So if you’re in one of the aforementioned countries, then you should see the OTA shortly. If you want to manually check for the update, head over to the Settings of your phone followed by Software update and Download and install options.

Besides the latest security patch, the Galaxy S20 devices are currently testing the Android 13-based One UI 5.0 software through beta builds in select countries. This update installed a bunch of new features alongside a handful of improvements and changes. Whereas, the stable update for these phones is expected to arrive sometime in November 2022.
