Multitasking is very common in smartphones as nobody wants to just perform a single task at a time. Meanwhile, to meet users’ demands and improve productivity, Samsung One UI 5.0 has brought two new Multitasking gestures and here we are going to explore them in Galaxy S21 smartphone running One UI 5.0 Beta.

Samsung has been offering Pop-up view and split-screen features for a quite long time now. These features are great to have when you want to use more than one application actively on your smartphone. For example, if you want to watch a show at the same time as chatting or browsing the internet, you can do so using Multitasking features.

Samsung already offers a couple of features on the Advanced features >> Labs section for enhanced Multitasking. Meanwhile, with One UI 5.0, the company has added two new features for one-hand usability: “Swipe for pop-up view” and “Swipe for split screen.”

Swipe for split screen:

Once enabled, this feature will help you to open a split-screen view directly from two-finger gestures. All you have to do is swipe up with 2 fingers from the bottom of the screen to change the view to split-screen. You can swipe again to change the used apps in the split-screen view.

Swipe for pop-up view:

After enabling this feature, you can open any application in the pop-up view by just swiping your phone’s screen inwards from the top corner towards the center of the display to open any app in the pop-up view.

While the split-screen only lets you use two applications at once, you can use more than two pop-up windows at a time. You can also adjust their size accordingly and more.
