Here’s what you should do before installing a new major Android OS upgrade:

Prepare a backup:

Losing a phone’s data is not acceptable for anyone, therefore, keeping a backup is always a good choice. Well, the One UI 5.0 update procedure is not claimed to ease or harm any of the files and data saved on your Samsung Galaxy smartphone. Still, we recommend you should prepare a backup for extra safety measures.

So, in any case, if your data gets erased or moved, you can recover it using the Reset options.

Battery should be charged:

Samsung does not allow you to update your phone when there is an insufficient battery. Therefore, you should make sure that your device is charged, by at least 30% so that your phone doesn’t get switched off in between the installation procedure as this interruption can break your system.

Download through Wi-Fi:

Android 13-based Samsung One UI 5.0 is a major upgrade over the previous version, which bears a heavy package size of around 2.5GB. Therefore, one should download it using a Wi-Fi network in order to avoid extra-cellular charges.

Make a note of your important accounts and passwords:

We have so many accounts logged in on our smartphones and we don’t remember all their passwords. Therefore, keeping notes of important accounts, pins, and passwords is a must. In case your phone gets reset while performing the update procedure, you can log in to all your accounts without any hassle.
