Samsung is building new global research unit for semiconductors
Taking a big step, Samsung Electronics is going to establish a new global research unit for semiconductors under the DS Business Division in December 2022, BusinessKorea reports.
According to the information, the new global semiconductors research unit will be headed by DS Business Division’s Vice President and expected to analyze the semiconductor market and other related industries.

At present, the South Korean tech giant has numerous research units that include Samsung Research for research on advanced technologies, as well as Samsung Securities Research Center, and Samsung Global Research.

Since the above-mentioned research organizations are responsible for different fields, the tentative Global Research unit dedicated to semiconductors will surely help Samsung with in-depth analyses of the industry.
Due to global supply chain disruptions during the COVID-19 crisis, the company felt the need for a dedicated semiconductor research organization, as result, it’s going to be established next month.
Big changes in Exynos’s strategy
Since Lee became Samsung’s boss, the Semiconductor and Electronics departments witnessed major changes. The Exynos 2300 processor could be built on 5nm process instead of the latest 4nm.
The Galaxy S23 series is likely to globally feature Snapdragon 8 Gen 2’s overclocked variant, while the flagship Exynos 2300 chipset reportedly making its commercial debut with a future Galaxy A or M series phone.
