Corning officially unveiled its new Gorilla Glass Victus 2 with improved drop performance and durability on rough surfaces like concrete. Many upcoming smartphones will use it and Samsung Galaxy S23 series is likely to be included.

The company says that smartphones are becoming more universal and their chances of dropping on hard surfaces are also increasing. As phones keep getting bigger and heavier, Corning knew it was time to bring tougher screen protectors for them.

Furthermore, in another lab test video, the company also explains that the Victus 2 can survive a scratch at a force of 8 Newtons (that’s 8 kilogram-meters per second squared) while a competing product fails to withstand half that force.

Galaxy S23 will feature Gorilla Glass Victus 2:

We are still months away from the launch of the Galaxy S23 series, therefore, there is no official information as to whether Samsung will use Gorilla Glass Victus 2 for these phones or not. However, we expect the Galaxy S23 series to come with this new Gorilla Glass to offer more durability to the users.
