OLED panels have self-luminescence characteristics which offer a faster response speed than LCD panels, so users can see a clearer picture on OLED monitors. Based on this, this type of display is mainly installed in gaming monitors that require high specifications.

Both Samsung and LG have started to apply OLED panels to their gaming monitors that require high performances based on their faster response speed and clear picture quality compared to LCDs and are now ready to compete for the top position.
At the present time, Samsung is planning to launch a new OLED gaming monitor. The company has earlier introduced its Odyssey OLED G8 Monitor which equips a Quantum Dot (QD)-OLED panel. It has a curvature of 1800R, a WQHD (3440×1440) resolution, a 175Hz refresh rate, and a 0.1ms response speed.
Moreover, the Korean company will continue to target the gaming monitor market with high-end products loaded with OLED panels. This is because Samsung Display, which supplies QD-OLED panels to Samsung Electronics, has increased yields to a level where mass production is possible.
On the other hand, LG launched a new OLED gaming monitor, starting to expand its market share. This device features an OLED panel from LG Display and is the first OLED monitor that features a 240Hz refresh rate.
It has a response speed of 0.03ms. Because OLED panels have the characteristic of emitting light on their own, they have a faster response speed than LCD monitors.
