Samsung reportedly begins construction of its new semiconductor foundry in Taylor, United States. The company has recently placed orders for clean room facilities in order to start construction of Taylor foundry in the fourth quarter of this year.

According to TheElec, the equipment ordered by Samsung is ancillary equipment, which is necessary for constructing a clean room. It is reported that the company placed orders with South Korean partners such as Shinsung ENG and Wonbang Tech.

The ordered equipment includes system sealing materials for the ceiling and an external air conditioner (OAC) to maintain temperature. These facilities are required before the installation of clean room, however, the supply is expected to start in January next year.

In contrast, a clean room is an infrastructure facility responsible for the control of all elements such as pollution level, temperature, humidity, and atmospheric pressure in the semiconductor manufacturing environment. A small inflow of dust from the outside can cause yield problems, therefore, clean room is a must in foundry.
