Samsung’s own application processor Exynos failed to perform excellently on mobile phones. Seeing this, the company gradually increased the participation of Snapdragon chips in its mobile business. Now, it is reported that Samsung may never use the Exynos processor in Galaxy phones.

According to BusinessKorea report, Samsung is likely to completely revise the Exynos department and make it a brand specialized for automotive electronics and wearable devices. It suggests, the company might not be using Exynos processor in future Samsung Galaxy phones.

In the recent past, some industry analysts indicated that the Korean tech giant may reduce Exynos’ proportion in the smartphone market and focus on the automotive electronics and wearable device sectors. When it comes to mobile chips, the market is already dominated by Qualcomm, Apple and MediaTek.

As Exynos chipset is delivering some results in the automotive and wearables segment, Samsung might make it dedicated. If it happens, the automotive electronics sector is one of the fields where the company can maximize the use of Exynos chipsets.

So far, Samsung Elec supplied the Exynos Auto V7 processor for Volkswagen’s ICAS 3.1 Infotainment System produced by the LG Electronics VS Division. This processor features a neural network processing unit for AI calculation and provides virtual assistant service, voice, face, and motion recognition.

Samsung’s Galaxy S23 series flagships, which are expected to launch in the first week of February will solely use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. Some reports suggest that the Galaxy S23 devices may pack an overclocked version of the standard 8 Gen 2 chip.
