No doubt, smartphone makers are focusing more on 5G but since the 4G devices are cheaper in cost, many people, especially Indians, prefer buying them therefore, the companies aren’t stopping manufacturing them. But it looks like 5G phones from brands like Samsung, Xiaomi, and others have started getting more popularity in India as a report suggests 5G could surpass 4G sales in the country next year.

Market research firm – Counterpoint has recently reported that 5G smartphones will be sold more than 4G smartphones by the end of 2023 in India. This could be due to the rapid launch of 5G networks by telecom companies and an increase in sales of low-cost handsets.

Moreover, the data speed of the 5G network in the country is expected to be about 10 times faster compared to the 4G. The share of 5G smartphones in the low-cost category could increase to around 30% next year.

On the other side, the research firm also suggested that the overall smartphone shipments in the country could decline this year due to disruptions and a slowdown in the supply of components.

Samsung should grab opportunity:

India’s largest telecom company Reliance Jio is planning to introduce a budget 5G smartphone with Alphabet, the American company that runs Google. Samsung should also take this opportunity and try bringing more 5G phones instead of 4G in India.
