Samsung is now testing One UI 5.1 January 2023 build on Galaxy Z Fold 4

Launched pre-installed with Android 12L-based One UI 4.1.1, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 will soon get the One UI 5.1 firmware update as Samsung begins internal testing. The Fold 4 smartphone is currently running the One UI 5.0 version, based on Android 13 operating system.

As soon as the Korean tech giant introduces Galaxy S23 series smartphones, we will get to know about the One UI 5.1 software version. CheckFirm, which is a Samsung firmware server tracker, spotted that a new One UI version is testing on the Galaxy Z Fold 4, which could be the One UI 5.1.

Update: Jan. 05// The company is now testing January 2023 build of the One UI 5.1 on Galaxy Z Fold 4 foldable smartphone. After the initial CVLH build, a new CWA1 firmware spotted on Samsung’s server for the Korean model of Galaxy Z Fold 4.

CheckFirm can spot new test firmware on Samsung servers, but, it’s not capable of giving information about the release timeline or update contents. With the build version, one can confirm that the testing is underway for South Korean Galaxy Z Fold 4 models.

Update: Jan. 02// The latest test firmware bears version number F936NKSU1CVLH, where the fourth last alphabet “C” denotes that the build is the third major One UI update for the Galaxy Z Fold 4 device. To be added, the latest foldable phone’s Android 13 update’s 4th last firmware alphabet is “B”.

The next One UI update is expected to unlock some hidden features such as battery widgets, multi-user profiles and lock screen customization tools. The arrival of One UI 5.1 is almost confirmed with the Galaxy S23 series, while, rollout for older models could start by March 2023.

Material You design language, which is the biggest feature of Android 13 is not wisely adopted by Samsung. The One UI doesn’t have mastery in Android 13’s Themed app icons feature and the color palette also applies badly. We assume the One UI 5.1 will bring meaningful enhancements to the functionality.
