Samsung officially confirms One UI 5.1

Samsung has now officially confirmed the existence and rollout of the new One UI 5.1 software. Since the company has not made a specific announcement related to the launch of One UI 5.1 but revealed future availability through a recent Newsroom post.

The One UI 5.1 update is now officially ok’d to bring more new features to the connected Galaxy ecosystem (phone, watch & buds). Samsung has started rolling out 360 Audio Recording feature to Galaxy Buds 2 Pro earbuds, whereas the Watch’s Camera Controller is set to gain a zoom feature next month.

The Galaxy S23 series is all set to debut on February 1, followed by release later next month. The S23 devices run One UI 5.1 software out of the box, which will be available for more Galaxy phones and tablets through firmware update in the coming months.

Samsung said in a statement that the new zoom feature will go live for Galaxy Watch 5 and Watch 4 smartwatches when paired with a Galaxy phone running One UI 5.1 or above with Camera Controller app support. Through this, the company officially revealed a major feature and a new software iteration.

After updating your Galaxy device to One UI 5.1, it will have new zoom capabilities to the Camera Controller app. Using it, you will be able to remotely control your Galaxy’s camera zoom with a simple pinch of the watch face or a turn of the rotating bezel.

Camera Controller app update will be available for Galaxy Watch 5, Watch 5 Pro, Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic smartwatches from February 2023. And as already disclosed by Samsung, it will only be accessible when your device runs the new One UI 5.1 firmware.

A couple of months ago, the Korean tech giant cited that One UI 5.1 will unlock the remaining lock screen customization features. With the One UI 5.0, Samsung brought the ability to personalize the lock screen in more new ways along with a new wallpaper section.
