Samsung has started rolling out a new software update for Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, and Galaxy S20 Ultra smartphones that installs the newest January 2023 Android security patch in order to enhance the device performance.

This update is rolling out with minor security improvements that will help protect your files and data from bugs and viruses and keep them safe on your phone. At the same time, it also enhances the system’s stability so that you can have an uninterrupted and error-free user experience.

On the other hand, Samsung’s January 2023 security patch details also mention fixes for a handful of issues and vulnerabilities. 52 of these fixes come from Google’s Android operating system whereas, 20 are Galaxy specific that were harming various One UI apps and services.

Besides these, there is nothing that the update comes with. It is worth mentioning that Samsung is currently rolling out the Galaxy S20 January 2023 security update in Europe with users in France grabbing it first. The software versions are as follows:

  • Galaxy S20 – G980FXXSFGWA7
  • Galaxy S20+ – G985FXXSFGWA7
  • Galaxy S20 Ultra – G988FXXSFGWA7

Galaxy S20 One UI 5.1 underway:

Yup, Samsung has already begun internal testing of the upcoming One UI 5.1 software that will install a handful of additional features and improvements to the devices. At present, there is no report on when the update will go live for S20 users. However, it is likely that we don’t have to wait for too long to get access to it after it gets official on February 1.
