Galaxy Watch’s firmware update confirmed that the One UI 5.1 update is coming to Samsung devices, shortly after the Galaxy S23 debut. Well, which new features do you want with the upcoming One UI 5.1? There are plenty of areas where the One UI requires improvements, let’s discuss them in brief.

Battery widgets

Samsung teased several new homescreen widgets during the unveiling of the One UI 5.0 software. On the top Galaxy S22 flagship, One UI 5 didn’t bring those widgets, which suggests the company may have reserved them for its next-gen Galaxy S flagship.

New Camera tools

Galaxy S23 runs the One UI 5.1 software, which reportedly has some new camera features including front camera nightography, AstroHyperlapse and AI Restoration. We guess, most of the software-derived features will expand to select older flagships with One UI 5.1.

Color Palette

Nearly all Google apps and services are now optimized to the Material You theming engine. On the flip side, Samsung’s Android 13 skin lags behind other Android custom skins in terms of the Color Palette feature. There are various choices of palettes, but, the overall usability is not too refined.

Themed Icon

One UI has not yet perfectly optimized Material You design language, which initially debuted in 2021. Themed Icons feature requires significant improvements, which are possible with a major firmware update. Since Android 14 is too away, we hope Samsung to fix the functionality with One UI 5.1 itself.

Multi-user profile

After a long delay, Samsung finally began testing the multi-user profiles with the One UI 5 Beta version on Galaxy S22. Meanwhile, the company has swiftly removed the most-awaited function from the software due to unknown reasons. We hope, the multi-user profiles feature would be a part of the next One UI version.
