Samsung’s 17 consecutive years of leadership in the TV market is a testament to the company’s commitment to providing the most innovative products, consumer-centric design, and enhanced user experience. The achievement can be attributed to the company’s promise of a premium viewing experience and user-centric design.

Samsung has maintained its unmatched leadership in the TV industry for 17 years by prioritizing its premium lineup, exemplified by its Neo QLED series.

In 2022, sales of Samsung QLED and Neo QLED TVs will reach a staggering 9.65 million units, bringing the cumulative sales since their launch in 2017 to 35 million units.

In addition to this, the Korean tech giant also overlooks the ultra-large TV market in 2022, accounting for 36.1% and 42.9% market share of TVs above 75 inches and above 80 inches respectively. For the premium TV market priced above $2,500, Samsung maintained the largest market share with 48.6% of revenue.

Samsung’s 17 Years Achievements

Launched in 2006, Bordeaux TV marked the mainstream adoption of LCD TVs with a refined design and lightweight form factors. It is also the first time that Samsung has secured the first position in the global TV market. After launching its first LED TV in 2009 and Smart TV in 2011, the company has continued to bring innovative technologies closer to consumers, leading the market with each launch.

Back in 2017, Samsung defined the term “next-generation display” by launching the first QLED TV, which leveraged quantum dot technology to achieve 100% color volume for the first time in the industry.

In 2018, the company launched the successful QLED 8K, followed by the Quantum Mini LED back-illuminated Neo QLED and the self-illuminating Micro LED in 2021. These innovative technologies redefine the standard for TV picture quality and continue to set new industry benchmarks every time.

The company has continually improved its lineup to enhance the user experience with products such as The Frame, The Sero, The Terrace, The Premiere, and The Freestyle.

This year, Samsung will continue to innovate and develop intuitive technologies designed to meet user needs. SmartThings will enable seamless integration and connectivity across multiple devices, while security remains a top priority, enabling users to create deeply personalized experiences tailored to their unique preferences and needs.

As per the Cheolgi Kim, Executive Vice President of the Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics:

Our track record of industry leadership over the past 17 years was made possible by our consumers’ continued loyalty and trust in our products. We will continue to pave the path to create the most premium device experiences that go beyond premium picture quality.”
