The new update significantly improves the capabilities of Bixby by enhancing speech recognition and giving people more control over their mobile experience. The new update expands the availability of several Bixby features to more devices.

Let’s take a look at the new features of Samsung Bixby:

Samsung Bixby’s New Features

Bixby Text Call Feature

The latest update arrives with a number of new features and improvements that allow people to further customize their user experience, including the recently launched Bixby Text Call in English.

Those who prefer the English language in their Galaxy smartphone can now enjoy the feature as they can now answer calls from anywhere by typing a message and Bixby will convert the message into audio and communicate directly with the caller on their behalf.

This feature is currently available on Samsung Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23 Plus, and Galaxy S23 Ultra, Z Fold 4, and Z Flip 4. In addition, it works on phones with One UI 4.1.1 or above for Korean and phones with One UI 5.1 or above for English.

Bixby Custom Voice Creator

With the new Bixby Custom Voice Creator, you can customize Bixby’s text call voice. You can record individual sentences and create an AI-generated copy of your voice and tone for Bixby to analyze. Currently, this feature is available in Korea and is compatible with other Samsung apps besides phone calls.

At the moment, users of Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23 Plus, and Galaxy S23 Ultra can enjoy this Bixby Custom Voice Creator feature.

Intelligent Assitant with Other apps

Bixby can now deliver more seamless continuity and better meet user needs in Samsung Health by introducing new scenes, including playing music based on the type of workout or saving a schedule to the calendar.

Bixby can now better understand the purpose to handle subsequent requests by understanding the context and adding words used earlier in the conversation.

Improved Language Recognition, Processing, and Response

Samsung has also boosted the on-device AI support of Bixby. You can run fundamental commands completely offline like setting a timer, taking a screenshot, or turning on the flashlight.

The Korean tech giant is able to further expand its language offerings and capabilities with advanced AI-based voice dictation by integrating on-device AI with its native apps. The new upgrades to Bixby will be enabled by powerful innovations across Samsung Galaxy devices such as enabling industry-leading performance for on-device AI applications.

Notably, Samsung Galaxy users will receive new Bixby features through a new update in February. However, the exact timing and availability of the updates may vary by user and market.

“When Samsung first launched Bixby as a voice assistant, it was part of a vision to create a human-to-machine interface that makes life easier and can advance over time with Samsung Galaxy innovation. Today, we introduce updates to build a more intelligent interface that is proactive and adaptive, giving people greater control over their mobile experience.”
