Chipset is the brain behind any kind of smart device including smartphones, tablets, and wearables. With a well-optimized processor, the device can deliver great performance by taking the benefit of powerful hardware. Samsung reportedly plans to begin CPU core development optimized for Galaxy.

According to the information, Samsung is expected to introduce the first Galaxy-optimized chipset with its own developed CPU in 2027 if the development is carried out as planned. Through this, the company will be able to expand the competition level and capability of its Galaxy-exclusive chip.

Industry sources also revealed that the company has recently organized an internal team dedicated to CPU core development. The vendor has hired a senior developer that was responsible for CPU development at U.S. Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (AMD) to lead the team.

“Samsung Electronics will be able to boost the completion level of its Galaxy Chip if it successfully develops a CPU core. It will be able to load its own CPU in 2027 if development is carried out as planned” said an unnamed industry official.

The South Korean tech giant wants to reduce its reliance on British chip design house ARM Ltd. for central processing unit (CPU) core for smartphones and personal computers. Moreover, it will help the chipset to be further optimized with Galaxy devices.

Samsung Elec is rapidly moving forward to develop Galaxy-dedicated processors for future flagship devices. The System LSI Division has also established an AP solution development team late last year with the mobile eXperience (MX) business to promote research and development.

It’s worth mentioning that the dream chip could be available in 2025, which will use a CPU based on ARM technology. Next year, we believe, the flagship Galaxy devices will come with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon for Galaxy processors.
