Carrier-locked Samsung Galaxy S20 receives One UI 5.1 update in the US

Carrier-locked users of Samsung Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, and Galaxy S20 Ultra have begun collecting the One UI 5.1 software update in the US. The latest update is rolling out for T-Mobile, Xfinity Mobile, and US Cellular networks, it’s expected to reach other carriers in the coming time.

This update brings ao many Galaxy S23 features to your three years old Galaxy S20 phones. At the same time, it carries multiple improvements over the One UI 5.0 software to take your Galaxy experience to next level.

What’s more? You will also get better system security and privacy as well as various vulnerability fixes with the February 2023 patch.

If you are using a carrier-locked Samsung Galaxy S20, S20+, and S20 Ultra in the US, you can identify the One UI 5.1 update through built version G98xUSQU3HWB5, G98xUSQU3HWB5, and G98xUSQU3HWB5, respectively.

Galaxy S20 won’t get Android 14:

Launched in 2020, Samsung Galaxy S20 series smartphones arrived with the Android 10-based One UI 2 software. Later, the devices got access to Android 11 One UI 3, Android 12 One UI 4, and Android 13 One UI 5 operating systems.

Since these phones are only applicable for three major Android upgrades, they will not get the upcoming Android 14 update. The Android 13-based One UI 5.1 is the last major software update for all Galaxy S20 phones. Now they will only receive security patches.

Galaxy S20 One UI 5.1 update:

Samsung One UI 5.1 update brings a Battery widget to Galaxy S20 phones that will let the customers check their phone and connected devices’ battery status effortlessly. The Weather widget and Smart Suggestion widget have also been improved with meaningful changes.

On the other side, the Samsung Internet app now lets you continue browsing on other Galaxy devices, the Bixby Text Call feature is now available in the English language, Modes and Routines allows changing the phone wallpaper based on modes, and more.

Aside from these, the Galaxy S20 Ultra gets easier access to Samsung’s Expert RAW camera app through the stock One UI Camera itself. At the same time, the company also makes it easy to change the color tone of your selfies.

On the other side, the Gallaxy app is getting multiple new features including extracting text from videos, GIF Remastering,  a new Common family album for easier sharing, more powerful searches, a convenient information display in landscape mode, and others.
