Google ARCore support list adds new Samsung phones including Galaxy S23 series

Google ARCore support list finally adds the recently launched Galaxy S23 series along with a handful of other Samsung phones. Usually, the Android maker takes a long time to add newly released smartphones to the ARCore-supported devices, but, it’s not the same case for the S23 series.

In addition to Samsung Galaxy S23 series, the Google ARCore support list added the Galaxy Z Fold 4, Galaxy Z Flip 4, Galaxy A23 5G, Galaxy A14 5G, and more. Notably, the company has recently added the Pixel 7 and 6a smartphones, after about a four-month delay.

What does it mean for a device to be supported?

Google says ARCore certification is crucial as it wants users to have a good experience with AR apps. This is primarily related to sensitive motion tracking, which is done by combining the camera image and the motion sensor input to determine how the user’s device moves through the real world.

In order to certify a device, Google checks the quality of the camera, motion sensors, and design architecture to ensure it performs as expected. Moreover, the smartphone requires to have a powerful enough CPU that integrates with the hardware design to ensure good performance and effective real-time calculations.

Notably, the US tech giant is continuously working with Android vendors to ensure their hardware and designs meet these requirements. Besides, it is working internally to make sure ARCore integrates well with every certified model to provide good experiences for users.
