Camera crashing at 30x zoom? Samsung confirms fix with April 2023 update
Samsung is reportedly baking a big camera-focused firmware update for the Galaxy S23 series. The firmware is expected to release anytime, while Samsung just confirmed that the April 2023 update will fix the 30x zoom camera crashing bug on Galaxy devices upgraded to One UI 5.1.
According to Samsung community’s camera in charge, the software department confirmed that the 30x zoom camera crashing issue occurred over the difference in action point when quickly switching the camera lens. The bug has been fixed internally and you just need to wait until the April 2023 update.
It’s worth mentioning that the camera in charge denied commenting on the firmware update’s release date for Galaxy devices. Due to the company’s phased rollout strategy, the Galaxy phones will receive that camera update throughout the month in various regions.
We have already completed fixes for this issue and applied the improvements, and we plan to provide those fixes through the next SW update.
As per users’ concerns, the camera app crashes when quickly switching to the full 30x zoom on select Samsung Galaxy device running One UI 5.1. And notably, the camera works perfectly when you reach a zoom level of less than the full 30x.
Last month, Samsung released the One UI 5.1 update for various Galaxy devices including phones and tablets. The non-Ultra models of the Galaxy S20 series, Galaxy S21 series, Galaxy S22 series, and Galaxy S23 series support digital zoom of up to 30x.
Since the Galaxy S23 series comes pre-installed with One UI 5.1, the issue appeared on a limited number of Galaxy models that have upgraded from the One UI 5.0. Well, the April 2023 update won’t take much time in arrival to eligible Galaxy devices, so, stay connected.
