Looks like, the Exynos chipset is returning to Samsung’s flagship smartphone lineup next year. Rumors continue to appear on the internet, claiming that Samsung will be bringing back the Exynos 2400 processor with the Galaxy S24 series and MX Division has given greenlit.

Tipster @Tech_Reve said that Samsung MX (Mobile eXperience) approved the Exynos 2400 chip’s mass production and it would debut with the Galaxy S24 lineup. With just a single year of halt, the company is returning to its multi-chipset strategy.

Exynos 2400

Samsung’s upcoming Exynos 2400 AP appears to be featuring a new RDNA2-based graphics chip, which boasts 6WGP. As per the info, “WGP” stands for “Workgroup Processor,” and, one WGP consists of two CUs (compute units) in layman’s terms.

About two months back, a reliable Samsung leaker claimed that the Exynos 2400 chipset’s specs include a four-cluster 10-core design, including 1x Cortex-X4 + 2x Cortex-A720 (high frequency) + 3x Cortex-A720 (low frequency) + 4x Cortex-A520.

Moreover, a recent report revealed that the South Korean tech giant is working to lessen the power consumption of the Exynos 2400 processor, and thermal issues are also said to be fixed. Everything shows the Galaxy S24 line would be powered by Samsung’s own-made SoC.

Snapdragon for Galaxy?

Last year, Samsung and Qualcomm reached a multi-year partnership to bring Snapdragon chipsets to Galaxy devices. The S23 series is equipped with a fine-tuned variant of the original Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, and it could be continued further.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy chipset is breaking performance records in the Android smartphone market. Especially for the Galaxy S23 series, Qualcomm brought overclocked CPU (3.36Ghz) and GPU to the “for Galaxy” variant for better performance and efficiency.

Europe could be the test field?

Last year, Samsung expanded the Snapdragon-based Galaxy S22 smartphones to more markets, compared to its conventional strategy. The proportion of Snapdragon reached 75 percent in the S22 lineup and Qualcomm became the sole supplier for the S23 lineup.

As the Exynos chipset is coming back to S flagships, the company may ship Exynos 2400 variants in Europe region or some markets. It’s going to be a bold move as the lineup may face sort of sales just because of the issue-pack reputation of Exynos.
