About 11 months back, Google initially introduced the Gboard split keyboard for foldable phones, and from today, it’s rolling out to Samsung Galaxy Tab and other Android tablets. Once updating the app to its latest version, you can access the split keyboard function with easy steps in Settings.

In addition, you will have an option to quickly switch between the “Standard” and “Split keyboard” from a toolbar tile. At present, Gboard Beta 12.9.21 on Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 debuted the split keyboard feature, while you should try your luck updating to the same or above version of the app.

It’s worth mentioning that the Samsung Keyboard is way too ahead of Gboard, at least in the split layout feature. The company has already introduced this kind of layout for Galaxy devices through the One UI’s native Keyboard application.

In case you prefer using Gboard, you can continue to experience the handy layout of the keyboard here too. The split layout helps the user reach the alphabet buttons to insert/write text in landscape mode as elements are now optimized fro double-handed use.
