Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is a powerful yet power-efficient processor, powering the best Android flagships this year. Samsung, on the other hand, equipped the Galaxy S23 series with a faster variant called Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy manufactured by TSMC on 4nm process tech.

As this faster Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is limited to Samsung, this exclusivity may be ending soon. According to a Weibo tipster, Qualcomm will be bringing the fastest Snapdragon chipset to the market in the near future. Various Chinese smartphone makers will introduce products equipped with this SoC.

It’s worth noting that the “for Galaxy” branding may remain exclusive to Samsung. However, the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 2 will bring better performance in terms of CPU and GPU. It’s also possible that the US chip designer will debut 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy as 8 Plus Gen 2 in the coming months.

At present, it’s not confirmed which phone manufacturers will utilize the overclocked Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. Regardless, ASUS, OnePlus, Xiaomi, and Redmagic may be on the list, following the same they did over the past few years.

The 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy’s CPU in particular saw a frequency upgrade from 3.2GHz to 3.36GHz (a 5% boost). In addition, there’s a 719MHz GPU, up from 680MHz in the standard chip (a 5.7% increase) as well. It’s believed the chip’s AI silicon has also received a slight speed bump.
