Samsung is going to launch its next-gen foldable phones in the near future. As usual, the company launches foldable flagships in the second week of August, but this year’s Galaxy Z Unpacked is not happening in the U.S. as Samsung eyeing countries in Asia.

BusinessKorea reports that Samsung will move the Unpacked of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 to July 26, instead of the usual second week of August. As there was a sharp earnings drop in the first quarter, the company anticipates that an early release of foldables would help survive in the third quarter.

Industry insiders’ attention will be focused on whether the Unpacked event can be held in Korea. Unpacked events have previously been held mainly in the U.S. Samsung officially said that the date and venue are not finalized yet, but South Korea’s Seoul and Busan are emerging as possible locations.

It has been reported that the South Korean tech giant judged that it will be effective to move the Unpacked event to Korea to emphasize its dominance in the foldable phone market, which is heating up after the launch of Google’s new Pixel Fold.

Adding to this, the company is targeting non-Chinese Asian countries such as Indonesia, Vietnam, and India as emerging new markets that will replace the Chinese smartphone market. The Android operating system (OS) has a 95 percent market share in India, making India a friendly market for Samsung.
