Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra to bring 5x optical zoom camera
Rumors about the camera capabilities of the next-generation Samsung S flagships are surfacing regularly. Now, GalaxyClub reports that Samsung is giving a big upgrade to the Galaxy S24 Ultra camera, bringing increased zoom level up to 5x optical.
It could become possible by abandoning the current 3x Telephoto sensor, which is paired with the 10x periscope. With the Galaxy S21 Ultra, the South Korean tech giant introduced a dual zoom sensor setup, which could be finally seeing a significant refresh next year.

Samsung’s Galaxy S20 Ultra was the first to ship with a 100x digital zoom camera, thanks to the 48MP telephoto lens with 4x optical zoom. Later, the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra arrived with 12MP telephoto lens, 50x space zoom, and 5x optical zoom.
The Galaxy S21 Ultra, Galaxy S22 Ultra, and Galaxy S23 Ultra models are equipped with two telephoto sensors of 10MP each, enabling 3x and 10x optical zoom using each lens. Notably, Space Zoom remains capped at 100x until the recent S23 Ultra.
Previously, it was rumored that the Galaxy S24 Ultra could come with three camera sensors, bringing a new Telephoto sensor with variable zoom. Later, the same source revealed that the company has canceled its plan to change the camera configuration of the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
