The Pixel Watch 2 (Eos) is coming, design revealed in Google app

Samsung is the biggest reason behind this wider availability of the Wear OS platform. Meanwhile, Google also entered the smartwatch market last year by launching Pixel Watch. No doubt, Google will launch the Pixel Watch 2 soon and its internal codename and possible design have been revealed.

There’s now enough evidence to suggest that the Google Pixel Watch 2 will be released in October alongside the Pixel 8 series. In an APK teardown, the Pixel Watch 2 is codenamed “eos,” and a previously leaked codename was “aurora.”

In this regard, 9to5Google pointed out that in theory, one of the codes corresponds to the Pixel Watch 2 with only Wi-Fi, while the other resembles the model that supports LTE connectivity. The company did the same with its predecessor, the Pixel Watch, with slightly different codenames for different models.

References to “eos” in the Google app are said to be linked to the help guide for using the Pixel Watch 2. Still, the image shown in the help guide video is pretty much a copy-and-paste of the Pixel Watch.

The Pixel Watch 2 looks exactly the same as Pixel Watch, which is not impossible, especially considering that the company has recently launched metal straps for the first-generation Pixel Watch. If the Pixel Watch 2 doesn’t support these straps, it doesn’t make sense for Google to do so.

So there’s a high chance the Pixel Watch 2 will look the same as its predecessor, or at least close enough that the newly introduced straps will work for the iteration as well. However, the smartwatch may be equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen1 chip based on a 4nm process.
