Fitbit preps heart health monitoring tech to save you from a trip to hospital
Fitbit is working on a new way to monitor your heart health. The company has filed a patent to use a photoplethysmography (PPG) sensor on the wrist to assess arterial stiffness. Arteries are the blood vessels that carry blood from your heart to the rest of your body. Its too stiffness indicates a heart problem
Fitbit wants to make a device that can utilize the PPG sensor in different situations, like when you are sleeping, working, or exercising. It also wants to add other sensors that can measure things like temperature, stress, and strain. These sensors can enhance the accuracy of the PPG sensor.
The device will analyze the data on your wrist and tell you if it finds something wrong with your pulse. If your pulse is irregular, it can also imply cardiovascular dysfunction.
Fitbit’s new device could be beneficial for people who want to keep track of their heart health. It could be part of Fitbit’s next smartwatches or Google’s Pixel Watch. However, we do not know when it will be available yet.
