Report: Samsung Galaxy Ring development begins, could pair with XR devices
Samsung has reportedly begun the development of a smart ring device called the “Galaxy Ring.” This smart device is likely to feature better body information measurement accuracy than the Galaxy Watch. Japan’s Meiko is in charge of the advanced development of the Galaxy Ring PCB.
Since Samsung started the development of the Galaxy Ring device, it’s still unclear whether and when the Galaxy Ring will be mass-produced, reports TheElec. Currently, the company is applying for a patent for the Galaxy Ring that works with XR devices.
Japan’s Meiko will reportedly proceed with the advance development of rigid and flexible printed circuit boards (PCBs) required for the Galaxy Ring. The company could proceed with preliminary development with Mayco and others, make a prototype of the Galaxy Ring, and decide whether to mass-produce.
Apart from this, Samsung is also applying for a smart ring patent that works with extended reality (XR) devices. The company describes a technology that collects various information through a smart ring through a recently applied patent.
