There were rumors that AMD is transferring 3nm chip orders to Samsung Foundry as TSMC’s production capacity reached its limit. When asked by reporters, AMD CEO denied the rumors and said the company will continue to work with TSMC.

According to BusinessKorea report, AMD CEO clarified that AMD will continue to work with its Taiwanese partners because it cannot launch the next-gen 3nm product without good partners like TSMC. Su implied that AMD does not need to damage its relationship with TSMC in order to compete with Nvidia.

“We typically do not publicly comment on the details of specific products and orders, but TSMC is an important partner,” Su said. “The Instinct MI300, a world-class accelerator for generative AI that AMD plans to launch later this year, has high complexity.”
