Google Maps for Android Auto gets a new look with a sidebar

Published

on

Google Maps is rolling out a new design for Android Auto users through a new update. It adds a sidebar on the left side of the screen with map controls. You can zoom, change orientation, adjust voice directions, and access settings from the sidebar. The sidebar is always visible when you use the full-screen map view. It does not appear in the dashboard view.

The new design is part of the Google Maps v11.90 update, so it does not depend on your Android Auto version. Some users have seen it with Android Auto v9.9, while others have it with v10.

The refreshed design aims to improve the user experience and make it easier to interact with the map while driving. It is rolling out gradually to Android Auto users around the world.
