Samsung to decide the future of Galaxy Ring next month

Samsung is expected to decide whether to mass-produce the Galaxy Ring or not in August at the earliest. The company is currently in the preliminary development stage to materialize the Galaxy Ring concept with Korean and Global parts makers, reports TheElec.

Whether or not to mass-produce the Galaxy Ring has not yet been decided, and is currently in the ‘preemptive development’ stage to materialize the product concept. In this process, the thickness and performance of the parts required for the Galaxy Ring are considered.

Results of this preliminary development review will be reported to TM Roh in August. Once mass production of the Galaxy Ring is finalized, product development can begin in earnest. Even if Samsung decides to mass-produce the Galaxy Ring in August, it may take time before the product is released.

“To apply for medical device certification, the product must be developed to a level that can receive radio wave certification. Even if development is completed around July, it will take an additional 10 to 12 months to obtain medical device approval,” said an industry official.
