Dustproofing foldables is hard but Samsung is working on it: TM Roh
On July 26, Samsung launched new foldable smartphones along with other gears. It was earlier rumored that the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 will be dust resistant along with the ability of water resistance. However, the rumor didn’t prove true, but Samsung is still working on dustproofing foldables.
According to BizWatch (via GSMArena), MX President TM Roh stated that Samsung is still hard at work trying to come up with ways to make dustproofing happen on foldables, so the intention was definitely there for this generation, things just didn’t materialize.
The report says that the company confirmed it’s aware of consumer demand for dustproofing and making various efforts to achieve this. Due to the foldable form factor, there are many moving parts, so it’s difficult. As waterproofing became possible, dust protection will also become a reality on foldables.
